TDI Sidemount diver course

 3 Days Minimum  – $230/day –

The TDI Sidemount Diver Course is the ideal specialty for any diver wishing to use this increasingly popular kit configuration either as stand-alone course OR in conjunction with one of TDI’s other open circuit courses such as Decompression Procedures, Advanced Nitrox or Cave.
The course teaches you how to utilize side-mounted primary cylinders as an alternative to the more traditional back-mounted configuration.
Sidemount diving allows cave divers access to areas that would be otherwise not accessible with back mounted double tanks. Also, the sidemount configuration allows for easier access to valves, and takes strain off the back, shoulders and knees since we do not have to carry around heavy double tanks.

What you will learn during the course

  • Gas management utilising independent cylinders
  • Psychological considerations of technical diving
  • Equipment considerations including:
    • Cylinder options
    • Regulator options
    • Harness options
    • Proper weighting
    • Equipment configurations
  • Communication
  • Problem solving in a sidemount configuration
  • Diving in tight or confined spaces
  • Water entrIes and exits
  • Buoyancy and trim
  • Finning techniques
  • s-Drills
  • DSMB Deployment

Sidemount Training

Sidemount configuration has gained a significant ammount of popularity over the past decade because it allows divers to have a freedom unsurpassed by twin backmount tanks. Also, it is significantly easier to find suitable tanks for sidemount diving (basically any tank will do in a pinch) than to find a set of twins.
